Lukaro is a high profile salon, with a welcoming, unpretentious environment. Located in the heart of Beverly Hills, surrounded by convenient parking, shopping, and restaurants. Luke O'Connor, Rona O’Connor and Katia Peltz opened the original salon in 1992. The three of them quickly began to build it into a highly successful business. After eight years of growth, they expanded into their current location. Luke and Rona, both celebrity stylists, are known for creating some of the most sought after and Iconic looks on actors since early in their careers. Both have acted as spoke’s personalities for internationally distributed product lines as well as working with TV shows and behind the chair.
Luke, Rona and staff have created a salon known for its excellence in beauty, and also for its warm and non-pretentious atmosphere where clients are treated as family. The salon provides a Mediterranean feel, with light-colored walls and archways contrasted by beautiful mahogany decor. Several separate rooms lead off the main lobby to the styling and treatment suites, eliminating the crowded, chaotic feeling so common in larger salons. A pitched glass roof floods the lobby with natural light. Tropical plants and the soothing sounds of a fountain add to the sensation of outdoor serenity and relaxation. A large retail area boasts a range of beauty care products.
The aesthetic department, run by Cyndi Karimi, one of LA’s top estheticians, and her business partner Lana Bara, offers facials, waxing, lash tinting, and paraffin hand treatments. Lukaro also provides beautiful makeup applications and precision eyebrow shaping by Marilena Fields. Manicures, pedicures, and mini massages are available upon request.
Lukaro is often sought after by actors, film producers, studio and network heads to create the looks for upcoming movies and TV shows. Team work is a big part of Lukaro’s appeal, and many shows as well as campaign adds have signature beauty looks designed by Lukaro artists. Lukaro may cater to many celebrities, but we view every client as a star.
Join us at Lukaro for the ultimate beauty and salon experience. You deserve it.
Meet the Lukaro Family
Born into a family of barbers, it’s no surprise that Luke carved out a career in hair. He got his start while studying under Vidal Sassoon in 1974. For the next eighteen years he worked at several premiere salons in Beverly Hills. In 1992, Luke and his wife Rona opened Lukaro, their own famed Beverly Hills salon. Lukaro has been a favorite of celebrities since its doors first opened. Luke immediately became one of the most highly sought after Hollywood hairdressers.
Luke styles his celebrity clients for the Oscars, the Golden Globes, the Emmys, and the Grammys. He has been the lead stylist on over twenty television series, including Will & Grace, Suddenly Susan, and The New Adventures of Old Christine. Luke won an Emmy in 2002 for Best Contemporary Hairstyling for a Television Series for his work on Will & Grace. He was also nominated in 2006 for Will & Grace and in 2013 for his work on The Oscars. Luke is constantly working with television show creators to develop character “looks” and identities. In fact, show creators enjoy Luke’s talent so much that Suddenly Susan had a story line that revolved around having your hair done at Lukaro with Luke being written in as a character.
Luke has not only been a key player behind the scenes of Hollywood, he also appeared in front of the camera quite often. He was a recurring expert critique on Joan Rivers’ Emmy Awards Fashion Wrap Up. Each year he appears as an expert on all of the top morning news programs. For the past two decades, he has acted as a national spokesperson for several top hair brands, including Unilever, Thermasilk, Sun Silk, and Suave. He frequently appears on television and in beauty publications introducing new products and giving styling tips and demonstrations.
Luke most recently worked on the CBS hit comedy The Millers, and continues to create each pilot season for many new shows starting up as well as running his busy Beverly Hills salon.
While there is no down time for Luke, he always finds time to give back to the community donating to numerous charities.
A Toronto native, Rona came to LA to study studio make up and hair. While in beauty school she met her husband and partner Luke O’Connor with whom she opened the beautiful Lukaro Salon in Beverly Hills in 1992.
Rona’s constant curiosity about colors and results on different hair types, especially difficult and damaged hair, led her to becoming a corrective color expert early in her career. Being self-taught, she developed her “Quik base” in 1993, which is still her most popular 7-minute blonde base and tone. She also went on to create her signature multifaceted reds and sun-kissed brunettes. Rona’s personal goal is not only to create a beautiful and unique color for each client, but also to suit color to the client’s lifestyle and budget.
Rona has developed a reputation from LA to NY as a celebrity color expert, which gained her a segment on CNN’s Road Warriors giving beauty travel tips to millions. She has also appeared on numerous makeover and daytime news shows and radio, sharing her beauty knowledge and favorite tips for color and hair care.
She has created signature colors on some of the most sought after hues on many of our favorite characters from TV and film since the early 90s. A few of her trademark shades include: Debra Messing’s reds, Brooke Shields’ many shades of brunette, Blake Lively’s “Rose Gold” blonde, Bella Thorne’s “Golden Apricot,” and a collaboration on Keira Knightly’s sunlit tresses for Pirates of the Caribbean.
To highlight a few.
Rona has created many color looks for celebrities featured on the covers of publications such as Vogue, Marie Claire, In Style, Allure, Glamour and many more as well as print ads and commercials. Allure Magazine chose Rona as one of the top hair colorists in the country. She contributes beauty tips and has been featured in many major beauty publications and served as a beauty expert on the advisory board of Shape Magazine.
In 2009, Rona worked on behalf of Clairol to support “Go Red for Woman,” having created two of her signature techniques to launch a competition nationwide in support of the campaign for the American Hear Association. She also had the privilege of being the US color judge for Goldwell’s Global Color Zoom Challenge in 2011 and 2013, one of the largest competitions for hair stylists worldwide.
To date, her signature colors have been seen on a number of celebrities including: Avril Lavigne, Bella Thorne, Blake Lively, Brooke Shields, Brooklyn Decker, Constance Marie, Debra Messing, Heidi Klum, Kathy Ireland, Jayma Mays, and Laura Prepon, to name a few.

I have taken the time to learn every facet of hairdressing so that I can approach every client according to his or her needs. It has served me well over the years both as a hairstylist, and industry educator because it gives me total control over the finish cut and hair color. Many in the industry have considered me a Hairdresser’s Hairdresser.
I currently work with casting agents, image consultants, acting coaches, news anchors and professionals looking for a power look.
Makeovers, imaging making and problem solving are my most favorite things to do. It is always important to stay current, no matter what your age or image is. And we can’t forget the men when it comes to style and gentle hair coloring.
I always consult with my clients as to how much effort they want to put into their look. I then create a style that works with their hair texture, facial features, lifestyle and image. I often cut hair dry to allow the hair to fall into its natural root direction and wave for ease of styling.
Over the years I have been a Beverly Hills Salon owner, a founding member of the Sebastian International Educational Team and celebrity stylist.
My passion and obsession for hair and make-up has never left me.
After completing high school the artist in me wanted to take a break before attending college and found myself forced into cosmetology school by my mother. Aren't I glad that my mother always knows best. :)
Above all else the condition of the hair is most important to me. During a consultation, I make sure that my client and I are on the same page as far as what their hair can handle without compromising the integrity of the hair, even if that means slower progress towards attaining our goal rather than instant gratification. If i feel as though a certain look that is desired is going to compromise the health of the hair, we would discuss other options. if were able to meet in the middle i would recommend that person going to another stylist before compromising the condition of the hair.
Overall inspiration to me is being able to match tonality with personality. Also tweaking a hair cut in a way that matches my clients overall lifestyle. And affords them the ease of being able to style it themselves.
After 8 years of building an established clientele in Florida, I wanted more. In April of 2009, I had a dream to move to a big city and start over. Within a month I found myself in Beverly Hills on a job search... today, I am blessed today to be an established/colorist/stylist at one of the top salons in Beverly Hills.
Being born and raised on the east coast, I come off a bit rough around the edges. The New Yorker in my can come off a bit rough around the edges. Sure, doing hair pays my bills but to me it’s more than that. I'm super passionate about what I do. But the truth is I’m very passionate about my work, and I believe your head becomes my head and my name is attached to all my clients and i take that very seriously. With that being said, it's my job to make sure you're 100 percent happy with your results.

I’ve always had a passion for hair. When I was kid, I loved beautifying my barbies, eventually that then lead me to cutting and coloring my friends. I would have moments of inspiration where I would try numerous styles on my own hair to see how they would look. After I graduated high school I decided follow my dream and went to cosmetology school. I like to stay current and am always inspired by the latest trends in fashion and the newest in hair care and color technology. I love that the beauty industry is so versatile and allows me so much freedom to be able to create something that suites a persons individuality.
I was inspired to pursue the beauty profession, because I had a very bad experience with my hair being damaged and didn’t know anyone that could fix it. This led me to enroll in cosmetology school so I would never have to experience this again and could help others as well.
I am inspired by Art, Fashion, and the change of seasons. The best part about my job is having the opportunity to make someone feel and look beautiful. I specialize in all types of extensions, as well as customizing them to clients hair color, hair weight and texture, as well a suiting a clients budget and lifestyle.
